For anybody with a low credit score still living paycheck to paycheck, payday loans are often a real lifesaver. Think about it. Where else is someone with a low credit score and no family or friends to help bail them out going to get the money they need for groceries until they get paid again. Not everyone has the benefit of being able to save any money every month like others do and are sometimes in danger of losing their electricity, vehicle, or even worse, their home.

Unfortunately, the payday loan industry is under attack in a number of different locations in the United States and some states, like Georgia, have even gone as far as outlawing payday loans completely. This is a real blow to people who have no other means of borrowing money to get their bills paid until next week.

A large portion of this attack is due to the fact that many people use payday loans irresponsibly by using them to purchase frivolous items and not putting forth enough effort to get them repaid on time.

The best thing that you can do to help the payday loan industry stay intact is to use payday loans for what they are intended to be used for: emergencies. Forget about using one to get a new TV for Super Bowl Sunday or for buying a new Playstation 3.

Save your money up in advance in a savings account or your piggy bank, whichever suits you better, but if you have any doubts as to whether you will be able to repay the money on time, ditch the idea. It actually makes no sense to get a payday loan for something frivolous like this, since due to the interest you will have to pay, you will end up having to pay quite a bit more for the convenience of being able to have that shiny new toy right now.

The requirements for a payday loan are about as slim as you can get when it comes to borrowing money from someone other than family or friends. You need to be 18 years old, have a job, proper identification, and a checking account that is in good standing. This will net you the loan that you need in most cases.

If you find that you are unable to pay the loan back on time, whatever you do, do not avoid the lender's phone calls. Better yet, if you have any doubts about your ability to meet the due date, call them first! It shows that you are trying to be responsible and are not trying to get away with something.
